There’s nothing like summer in the city. The grass is back on the L1 steps, there’s just that right balance of sunshine and wind from the docks, and Matthew Street is packed like a clown car with day drinkers.
What says summer more than that?
If you live in Liverpool or the surrounding areas, you’re one lucky sod, because it’s known as the city of culture for a reason.
The city has plenty to do at the best of times, but in summer it really picks up, with plenty of big (and small) events hitting the city, and when the sun’s shining, it’d be rude not to have a look for yourself.

With so many events happening every day in the summer, it can be hard to keep up with what’s going on in the city.
Worry not, our little scouse cherubs.
At Blaze, we make it our job to keep up with local businesses and get the scoop on what’s happening in Liverpool this summer.
Of course, with so many events happening, we can’t cover every event (our copywriter’s fingers couldn’t handle it), so here are some of the most unmissable events that you need to get down to this summer.
Summer in Liverpool: Music Events
If there’s one thing that Liverpool is known for, it’s music. Home to The Beatles, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Zutons, and, most importantly, Atomic Kitten, Liverpool has a reputation for nurturing musical talent, hosting regular events where local bands and international acts can connect with fans.
This year, we have some absolute corkers coming to the city, and with some massive acts gracing our local stages, you need to get your tickets booked ASAP.
Some unmissable music events in Liverpool this summer include:
Anfield’s Big Music Events
If there’s something that Anfield does well, it’s booking the biggest and best bands to perform, and we’re all incredibly grateful. With huge performances from the diva herself, Taylor Swift, Elton John and The Rolling Stones, Anfield always goes above and beyond to secure the biggest talent for the city.
And this summer is no different.
Some great acts coming to Anfield this summer include:
My Chemical Romance: June 30th

If you happen to stumble into the city centre on this date and you’re confused by the sea of black clothes, big eyeliner, and sounds of sobbing, it’s because My Chemical Romance have entered the city, awakening generations of emos. The band is coming to the city to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their biggest album with ‘Long Live: The Black Parade’.
Unrelated pre-warning: If you’re running low on black eyeliner, now might be the time to restock before the city’s supplies are depleted.Tickets are available here.
Zach Bryan: June 12th
Calling all country fans (we often play Dolly Parton in the office, so we think we count), Liverpool has the pleasure of hosting the hugely popular country singer Zach Bryan, so don your cowboy hat, tighten that bolo tie and yee-haul yourself down to Anfield to see it for yourself. Get your tickets here.
Foo Fighters: June 25th and 27th
This summer, you have the opportunity to see the best, the best, the best of rock and roll royalty. Foo Fighters are gracing Liverpool with not one, but two performances. The band hasn’t performed in Liverpool since 1997 (before half the staff at Blaze were even born), so if you haven’t already got your tickets, you’d better act fast! Grab yours on See Tickets.
Liverpool Sound City: May 2nd and 3rd
Ok, you got us. Sound City technically doesn’t happen in summer, but we think it’s a biggy (plus, at Blaze, we like to pretend it’s summer as soon as the weather gets slightly warm), and, shockingly, there are still people who are unaware it’s happening.
This annual music festival has been taking place since 2008, with each year getting bigger and bigger, and this year is no different, with big names like Kate Nash, Jalen Ngonda, and Vida set to take to the stage. This isn’t one to miss. Book your Sound City tickets here.
On the Waterfront: June 18th to 21st
This four-day celebration of fantastic music is once again ready to take over the iconic Pier Head, and this is an event that scousers look forward to all year long. This festival embodies everything great about the city, with everyone coming together at a historic location to celebrate some of the city’s most massively talented artists. Make sure you’re getting down this year! Tickets for each day are available via Ticketmaster.
Africa Oyé: 20th and 21st June
After a year hiatus that left the city in mourning, Africa Oyé is finally back and just in time for what is expected to be one of the hottest summers yet. Located in Sefton Park, this festival has been a staple in Liverpool for years, and now it’s back, and things are a little different. The event is now ticketed, so if you want to catch artists like Patoranking, Fulu Miziki and KIZABA, you’d better be fast. Tickets are available via TicketQuarter.
